Description

This is the best hard rock album of the 90’s (1990) that nobody ever talks about. Songs like the title track Fly me, The Innocent, Build a fire are classic rock songs and should be played on every station. It a shame these guys never got their due but they seem to be like the Ramones, Thin Lizzy, Motorhead and other real rock bands that have dedicated fans. This mc is always one of my favorites even today! BUY IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Call Crazy but Best Rock Album of the 90,
All those who worship at the altar of Kurt (not even the most talented member of his own band) or Eddie will think I’ve lost my mind, but this is the single best rock album of the 90. Not the best alternative, not the best hard rock, not the best “”indie-ish,”” not the best Georgia (the skinny boys from Athens are amazing but never quite this honest or musical) album, but the best rock album period, zero, the end. It almost a crime that it out of print. Buy it used, copy it, steal it whatever you have to do to get a copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rocks today just like it did in the 90r
I grew up on this disc. There are albums out there that when you listen to them they take you back. This is it for me. Virtually the whole album is significant. The Innocent and Fly Me Courageous are just about as good as it gets. If you have never heard Drivin’ n Cryin’, do yourself a favor and at least listen. Great stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars “”Mainstream”” Rock from dnc,
dnc label, Island, pushed Kevn Kinney, et al toward mainstream hard rock with this release, hoping to get a band that would both rock and possess universal appeal through superior, socially-conscious songwriting (like Midnight Oil or late-80s rem). The result is the band best-selling record, _Fly Me Courageous_. The increased contribution of hard rock guitarist Buren Fowler and the paring down of the softer side of dnc personality led to a solid rock record which featured memorable, melodic riffs and rock radio tunes such as the title song, “”Build a Fire,”” and “”The Innocent.”” The country-fied “”For You”” balances the bombast, as does the Petty-esque “”Let Go Dancing,”” but mostly the band goes for the “”Rockin’ in the Free World”” approach. Producer Geoff Workman (whose credits include Motley Crue) adds considerable polish to the band sound, but while it almost put them over the top, the record is not quite as unique as their previous two efforts.

This is how rock records should sound – fresh! Listening even today there no sign of cliches or recycled ideas. It a great sound – a twinge of the south and a crunch of arena rock blended together.

5.0 out of 5 stars great album
dnc are probably the best song writers in their genre. this album just shows more of their flexibility to create great music and not bore the world with new lyrics to the same old songs. this album is a great change yet keeps with their poetic nature of previous material.

5.0 out of 5 stars Drivin’n’Cryin’ Hit Their Peak,
“”Fly Me Courageous”” is the best D’n’C album by such a wide margin it is scary. Never before (or since) have they shown such a remarkable ability to write great songs. Need an example? Try “”Around the Bloock Again,”” the title track, “”For You”” or “”Let Go Dancin’.”” The guitar work is excellent and the lyrics are amazing in their depth. Few hard rock bands ever achieve this level of mastery. Fans of Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers in particular should appreciate it.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Really Rocks,
It Really Rocks and has a great beat sounds great

fly me courageous LYRICS:

I’ve got you on the loose
I left you groovin’
I’ve got you on the beat
I left you broken
But won’t you take my place
Since long ago I wandered
Way out on a cliff
With the brilliance of an angel

So fly me courageous
So fly me courageous

Mother America is brandishing
Her weapons
She keeps me safe and warm
By threats and misconceptions
So if you break the chains
You’ll have to shake me
And if you break my heart
You’ll have to take me

Whoa lady won’t you take it easy
Push, me, out, of
Whoa won’t you take it easy lady
Push, me, out, of

Whoa won’t you take it easy lady
Push, me, out, of

So fly me courageous

I heard your whispers
From the bottom of the canyon
It’s not so hard to hide
The rattlesnakes confusion
Wrap me high in the sky
Circle me with stallions
She flew from peak to peak
With the freedom of an eagle

So fly me courageous
Fly me courageous
So fly me courageous
