ACROSS THE BORDER: Was bleibt THE BEST OF 1991 – 2002 [Double CD from this German Folk Punk (!)band. The Pogues on Speed! On CD 1 you get samples of all their CDs (20 Songs in total) and on CD 2 you get 5 brand new hits! Fast and nice folk songs with lots of punk influences, which will creep in your ears and legs! Also, great lyrics about politics and day to day life. It’s particularly good for that dance where you link one arm with the person and spin and then swap and go the other direction. Politically driven music with accordion and violin a bit like the Levellers on speed. Cheerful and earnest songs of the revolution that would have your mum dancing like a bastard. Music for the camp fire most definitely

=========================

Folk and Punk. They are not many music styles that are more different in a musical way, but, have very much in common in lyrics and spirit.. Both music styles were never famous for boring and senseless. Change and Revolution were the basics of both Styles!. Is it possible to bring these two genres together? Across the Border from Germany have been doing that since 1993. Lyrical based in the anarchistic movement, they play their songs with Violins, Accordion and a cool Punk Rock Guitar!. It was always very important for the Band that their lyrics are about social problems and justice.. All wrapped in the melodic power of their Folk Punks, like the print media like to write. Now after 12 years, the band finally broke up, but they gave us this fine Best of Compilation and as a free bonus 5 brand new Songs on a Maxi CD included in this Double CD.”
